In the three-part series "Franz Schrekers Meisterklassen in Wien und Berlin" the pianist, violinist and indefatigable treasurer Kolja Lessing explores the manifold and outstanding talents that had emerged from Franz Schreker's talent-making in German-speaking countries. In 1912, in the year of the spectacular Frankfurt premiere of his opera Die Ferne Klang, Schreker had succeeded in succeeding his teacher, Robert Fuchs, at the Vienna Academy of Music. In addition to Busoni and Schönberg, he was soon regarded as an expert in advanced pedagogy. In Vienna, his student circle, a. Ernst Krenek, Alois Hába, Artur Rodzinski, Joseph Rosenstock, Felix Petyrek, Karol Town Hall, Wilhelm Grosz and Max Brand. In 1920, at the height of his fame, Schreker followed the call as director of the Berlin Musikhochschule. Krenek and Hába went along with him, along with many others, the Wunderkind Ignace Strasfogel, Berthold Goldschmidt, Jerzy Fitelberg and - not just for the time - also students like Grete von Zieritz and Zdenka Ticharich.
